A Bring Out the GIMP (Girls in Merciless Peril) Movie Review

Gone By Dawn

Reviewed by Insomniac

Hey guys, I'm finally out of cryosleep for another review (actually, it's more like a heads up on a single scene, but who's judging). Today we will be looking at Gone By Dawn, yet another installment in the glorious rape-revenge genre. Being a mainstream film, the GIMP scene is pretty quick, but there are two nice things about it. One, it doesn't shy away from nudity with some off-screen implied assault like so many rape scenes do today. And two, well, it's better than nothing. Which is what I usually find. Which is why my total post count here is like 10 in three or so years.

Alright anyway, this is about some strippers who work for this dick boss who one day decides to brutalize his sweetest, youngest, hottest dancer. I'm talking innocent like, in the scene before the rape, she's literally trying to give money to a fellow stripper as part of an apology for disagreeing with her at a team meeting. It almost makes you think "wait no, don't do this. Leave her be. I can find my GIMP elsewhere." Almost.

So you get a few scenes of her and the other girls dancing around topless, which I know isn't GIMP, but it's still nice given that she plays a girl next door type. Eventually the boss lures her into a private dance with his buddy, where they then proceed to gang up on her and commence the rape.

First they bend her over and you get a somewhat obstructed view of the guy taking her from behind. But the best scene is after that, when they tie her up on a workout machine and stuff her panties in her mouth to keep her quiet while the boss plows her. Afterwards they threaten to kill her if she says anything, throw some money at her as she's whimpering on the floor and tell her to get out.

After that her and a few of her friends get all pissed when the cops won't do anything about it, and then they take matters into their own hands. I tried to skim through the rest of the movie to make sure that was it. I didn't actually watch the revenge part because, who gives a damn, right? Not bad, but not long enough and too few scenes for this to rank with the best of mainstream. Still, if you want something new with high production values and a story, you should check it out.
