I came across a flick on Amazon Unbox called Deception. There were no user reviews, and IMDB did not have much information, so I decided to take one for the team and try it out. Having done so, I can report that there is very little of interest to GIMPers in this flick, and basically it was just a waste of time. But here's a full review:
There are basically three parts to this movie. The first part, begins promisingly with a scene of two captured girls. One is clad in bra and slip, blindfolded, cleave-gagged (not very well) and is lying flat on a table with her hands and feet strapped (not convincingly, I might add) to each end of the table. The hands of her captor appear in view, with surgical gloves on, and each time he touches her, she screams her head off and begs for her life (see, he should have stuffed her mouth with her panties or something). As he moves up her body from her feet to her neck, he begins to act as if he is going to choke his victim. The second girl is observing this, is weakly gagged, and is apparently restrained, although we can't see exactly how. She is also screaming and moaning. So there's no nudity, lame gags and restraints, too much screaming and not enough mmmphing. But you don't see many straight films that start out this way, so I continued to watch.
We cut to what is we come to realize is a flashback, a prelude to the events described above. There are four girls who make a living as models: Miley (no, really), blonde Sandra (who looks like Mary-Kate Olsen with a Mickey Rourke facelift job), dark-haired Rachel (my favorite), and red-haired Laura. There is an endless amount of girl-talk, but we learn that another (unseen) friend, Shelley, has been found dead, and that Miley’s photographer boyfriend, Brian, once did a photoshoot of Shelley. Then, on the way to visit her friends, Miley gets a flat tire and is helped by a chubby loser named Matt, who fixes her tire and tries to make a move on her. But Miley flips him off and speeds away, pissing him off greatly.
The second third of the movie is taken up entirely (no exaggeration) by Brian taking millions of pictures of each one of the girls in their bikinis at the beach while a nonstop soundtrack of ‘80’s tunes plays in the background. I never thought I would find myself calling a swimsuit modeling marathon tedious, but there, I said it. While this is going on, we see chubby Matt sneaking around among the rocks on the shore, so we know he's the bad guy.
Nothing GIMP-worthy happens until about an hour and twenty minutes into the movie (seriously), when Brian visits an old flame, model (and major wacko) Magdalina, for a supposed photo-shoot. Chubby Matt chloroforms him and ties him (weakly) to a chair. Miley is presented, tied to a chair in similar fashion. I won't give away what happens next, but it's not worth the wait. What a mess, and what a waste of potential. I give the movie a D overall, and an F
for GIMP-worthiness. My conclusion: take the film's title as a warning. By the way, there are other flicks with this title — the one I reviewed can be found at the link in the URL below.
