A Bring Out the GIMP (Girls in Merciless Peril) Movie Review

Three mini-reviews of some mainstream stuff:

CURVE: This stars the lovely Julianne Hough of Dancing With the Stars fame. Ms Hough has been in a couple of other insignificant movies but has done most of her acting on reality series. She has a KILLER dancer's body, is young, petite and projects an innocence that makes her an ideal gimp candidate.

In Curve the premise is Ms Hough recovering from a break up on a road-trip has a car breakdown and gives a ride to a psycho after he helps her get her car running again. She causes an accident to get away (not particularly bright) and ends up having to survive being upside down in the car with one of her legs trapped in the car. The psycho escapes and returns to taunt her as she tries to survive. While there are several nice shots of Ms Hough in pain, and grimacing in reaction in a pair of shorts and tight white top, it's not particularly gimp worthy. She later escapes the car and gets into a fight with the guy. As a gimp film I give it a C -, as it's only redeeming qualities are Ms Hough looking distressed in shorts and tank top.

ALL I NEED: This one stars Caitlyn Stasey of "Reign" and a few notable Australian films. She is another beautiful petite young star. I was looking forward to this one for a while as the premise is exceptional as gimp films go, with the star waking up kidnapped, gagged, and tied with her arms behind her back and her struggles to escape.

Indeed the movie starts out with Ms Stasey waking up in fear shocked at her condition with a pile of other delectable young women tied in the room. One note Ms Stasy who is a bit of exhibitionist on Instagram (several topless shots) is the only girl in the movie not in a bra and panties. She is clothed in shorts and tank top, not bad, but unexplainable, The only significant gimp moments are her struggling tied up, And her crawling in the vent system getting stabbed buy a pitchfork. All in all a disappointment that rates a C at best but is a worthwhile purchase if you are a Caitlin Stasey fan. For the record I haven't seen this movie on any rental site.

LADY BLOODFIGHT: I'm usually not a fan of chick action fighting flicks as most are marginally realistic at best and rarely have the girl as a victim for any significant time period. This one stars Amy Johnston (pictured) another petite but seriously athletic blonde who has been a stuntwoman for years with a few acting roles. Her stuntwoman skills definitely show themselves in this one.

From a Gimp perspective there are four good scenes. Right in the beginning of the movie she is held by two guys and slapped around. She recovers to win but ends up with a bloody lip. Then she is in a fight with three men later in the movie, while she defeats two the third kicks her multiple times and knocks her unconscious.

The third significant scene is a fight against a much larger girl in a tournament who lands several devastating blows, she is seriously bloodied while she recovers to win, she can barely walk after grimacing in pain. In the final scene she wins another fight but takes several serious blows a few to the midsection which doubles her over. In every fight she has a bare midsection, tight top, with yoga pants. One other note the cinematography quality is excellent. I don't have Blu-Ray but this disc approached Blu-Ray quality.

This film contains lots of blood, bruises, but nothing that hides the beauty of the actress, and lots of writhing in pain. And Amy Johnston's skills in martial arts and as a stuntwoman make it worth a checkout. I'd love to see her in a movie getting interrogated as a spy, etc. A solid B
